Privacy Policy

How we handle your data · Last updated August 22, 2026

1. Who we are

Claimitt operates the Claimitt platform, including claim records, evidence tools, community features, and Claimitt Signal field-reporting workflows. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we share it, and the choices you have.

2. Information we collect

  • Account: name or handle, email address, authentication identifiers, profile details, settings, and account status.
  • Content and activity: public assertions, Signal intakes, evidence, comments, votes, mission reports, support messages, moderation requests, review states, and related timestamps.
  • Precise location: when you enable location-based features, go online for Signal, claim a mission, or submit a field report, we may collect GPS coordinates, accuracy, timestamps, and route or zone context to match you to nearby work and verify on-scene submissions.
  • Media: photos, videos, audio, captions, documents, file metadata, field notes, safety-review results, and privacy-reduced delivery copies that you choose to upload or record.
  • Device and usage: device type, browser or OS, IP address, app interactions, diagnostics, crash/error reports, and security logs.
  • Payments, purchases, and payouts: subscription status, purchase history, store transaction identifiers, payout records, and payment-provider identifiers. We do not store full card numbers.
  • Push notifications: device push tokens and notification preferences if you enable alerts.

3. How we use your information

  • Provide and maintain Claimitt, including account access, claim records, evidence tools, Signal missions, subscriptions, purchases, and payouts.
  • Receive Signals, verify and review submitted material, route approved records to the timeline or other enabled destinations, and protect contributors and the public.
  • Quarantine, inspect, hash, scan, safely decode, transcode, or remove private metadata from uploaded files before authorized delivery.
  • Detect fraud, spoofing, abuse, unsafe activity, policy violations, and security incidents.
  • Send service messages, support replies, account notices, and mission or product alerts you choose to receive.
  • Use automation and AI-assisted tools to organize claims, surface contradictions, summarize evidence, support moderation, and improve platform workflows.
  • Create aggregated or de-identified analytics to understand product performance and improve Claimitt.

4. How we share information

  • Service providers: vendors that help us provide hosting, authentication, storage, payments, app-store purchases, mapping, push notifications, support, analytics, security, and AI-assisted processing.
  • Other users and the public: content you intentionally submit to public or shared parts of Claimitt may be visible with your public handle, timestamps, and related assertion or evidence context. A private Signal intake is not public merely because it was received; only a reviewed, approved output is eligible for an enabled public destination.
  • Mission buyers or licensees: reviewed Signal submissions may be shared as part of approved evidence packets or licensed deliverables, consistent with the mission terms and safety review process.
  • Legal: when required by law, or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the service.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising tracking.

5. Location data

Location is used only when it is relevant to location-based Claimitt features, such as nearby missions, on-scene verification, route context, and safety checks. You control location access through your browser or device settings. If you turn off location permission, some Signal features may not work or may require manual alternatives.

6. Photos, camera, microphone, and media

Claimitt may request camera, microphone, or photo-library access so you can capture or attach evidence, reports, and mission media. We access these permissions only when you choose to use the related feature. You can change these permissions in your device settings.

A Signal is an observation, source, or piece of evidence sent to Claimitt for review. Uploaded originals are kept private while required checks run. If a Signal is approved for distribution, Claimitt may create a privacy-reduced or format-compatible copy for the timeline, marketplace, or another specifically approved destination. Original phone media can contain location, device, and capture metadata; Claimitt limits that metadata in delivery copies when it is not needed, while controlled provenance may be retained for integrity, safety, disputes, or legal obligations.

When you request transcription, private audio may be sent to a configured transcription provider only after format and malware checks, such as OpenAI, solely to produce the requested transcript. The upload screen identifies this processing before you start it.

7. Payments and app-store purchases

Payments and purchases may be processed by Stripe, Apple, Google, or other payment providers depending on where you use Claimitt. These providers process payment details under their own terms. Claimitt stores transaction identifiers, product IDs, subscription status, purchase history, and payout records needed to provide paid features, prevent fraud, support accounting, and respond to disputes.

8. Data retention

We keep information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with legal, tax, and payment-record obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We then delete or de-identify it.

Unfinished private upload slots expire and are scheduled for cleanup. Raw transcript media is scheduled for deletion after processing, cancellation, or expiration; completed transcript-job text is retained only for the short retrieval window shown in the product. Account deletion removes shared user-generated text, photos, video, and audio; a structural row may remain only after its authored content and account link are irreversibly replaced. Narrow exceptions apply to active legal or safety holds, proven paid-media licences, and tax/payment records. Each exception receives a reason category and review or expiry boundary. Publication alone is not a retention reason, and a released hold returns the resource to deletion.

Raw page-view and referral-visit analytics are deleted after 90 days. Privacy-minimized proposal-funnel events, which do not contain account IDs, IP addresses, URLs, or claim content, are deleted after 400 days. We may keep aggregated reports that no longer identify a device or visit. Referral attribution cookies expire after 90 days.

9. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live (including under the CCPA/CPRA and GDPR/UK-GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. You can request access, export, or deletion from account settings. You may also review the public account-deletion process. Claimitt does not require a support call or email to complete ordinary deletion. Specific legal, safety, tax, payment, or paid-licence records may be retained only for their documented purpose and bounded review period.

10. Security

We use access controls, encryption in transit, row-level security, and signed, time-limited URLs for private media. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to what is necessary.

11. Children

The service is for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect information from children.

12. Changes & contact

We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here with a new version. Questions or privacy requests: customer-support@claimitt.co.

Claimitt honors supported Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track browser signals by skipping product-usage and referral-visit analytics for those requests. You can also block or clear cookies in your browser or device settings.
